Content Creation

I was assigned one main task for this section, which was to create an email template for the marketing intern to send out to U.S. companies for potential partnerships. After quickly finishing that, I took it upon myself to do a full content audit of their website. Many of the translations for English are wrong or confusing and it called for a more concise description of what the company offered.

Another big project I decided to give myself, was to create a Content Calendar. This was color-coded to help my supervisor/the future intern to know when and what to post for the #TestimonialTuesday and #TravelThursday as well as fun ways to increase engagement on Facebook.

The last thing I created in collaboration with the photo intern was a rewrite of the photo permission form. Due to the translations, the form did not make any sense and it asked for information many clients wouldn't want to give out (i.e. their social security number). We couldn't send it out via email beforehand because 1. we didn't have everyone's contact information, 2. people may not reply 3. even if they did, skippers wouldn't be sure who was who when it came down to taking photos. We also faced the issue of skippers not having their customers fill out the papers because they were too busy driving the boats. I also tried to get people to sign them while I was at the port in the morning, but didn't have enough time to explain what each confusing blank line meant. Finally, I decided the best solution was to rewrite the form to make it as self-explanatory as possible. This could be handed out by one of the staff members who checks our guests in for the day. They would then hand it to their skipper and even if the skipper did not take photos on their phone, I added the social media information as well as our hashtag so that clients could find us there in case they wanted to share their photos.
